A tragic incident led to the death of a 15-year-old boy who was struck by a falling tree while on a hike at a holiday camp. The unfortunate event occurred on July 27 at YMCA Camp Widjiwagan in Antioch, where two camp staff encountered a fallen tree blocking the trail. The victim, identified as Camden Robert Callihan, was a camper at the camp.

According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the staff warned the campers not to touch the tree as they passed underneath it. However, it was reported that as Callihan and a friend walked under the tree, the friend inadvertently caused it to fall by touching it. Despite efforts to save him, Callihan succumbed to his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, with authorities ruling his death as accidental.

Authorities stated that the counselors and campers managed to lift the tree off Callihan after the incident. Emergency care was provided by the camp staff before Callihan was rushed to the hospital where he passed away shortly after arrival. The Mirror reached out to YMCA Camp Widjiwagan for comments but has not received a response yet.
