Three individuals tragically fell to their deaths from a 213-foot tall tourist attraction in Germany. The incident occurred at the Harz Tower in Altenau, located in the Goslar district of Lower Saxony. Despite the efforts of emergency services, two men and a woman succumbed to their injuries following the fall.
Authorities have cordoned off the area and set up privacy screens as they work to determine the cause of the accident. An investigation is ongoing to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Local police have confirmed that, at this point, there is no indication of third-party negligence contributing to the incident. In a statement, they reported that emergency services were alerted around 4:40 p.m. about the fatal accident at the Harz Tower observation platform. The victims, two men, and one woman, were found with severe injuries upon arrival.
The Harz Tower, managed by Harzturm GmbH, remains closed following the incident. Situated in Torfhaus, the tower stands as the tallest observation point in Germany, having opened to the public in 2024. Constructed with a combination of wood and steel, the tower boasts a glass-floored skywalk at a height of approximately 45 meters.
Visitors can access the tower’s top via stairs or an elevator, and it features a 110-meter slide for added excitement. The construction of the tower, costing around €10 million and receiving state funding, has made it a prominent landmark in the Harz Mountains region.
