A security guard at Tesco, Mohamed Nassar, tragically passed away after choking on a doughnut while on duty at the Manchester Bailey Tesco Express store in Salford. Mohamed, 57, was eating the doughnut to take medication when he choked and collapsed, causing distress among his colleagues and customers.
Despite paramedics reviving Mohamed and rushing him to the hospital, his heart stopped for 23 minutes, resulting in severe brain damage. Sadly, he never regained consciousness and was taken off ventilation 44 days later, leading to his passing on June 21, following the incident on May 8.
Originally from London, Mohamed and his family had relocated to Ardwick in Manchester in 2020. A former musician, Mohamed had worked for a security company for around five years. His son, Seif Abdelwaneis, along with his wife and daughters, expressed shock upon receiving the news of his collapse at work.
The family appreciated the outpouring of support and prayers during Mohamed’s hospitalization and expressed gratitude for the love shown to them. They mentioned the financial challenges they now face and their ongoing search for legal assistance. Remembered as a beloved family man and friend, Mohamed’s family is mourning his loss deeply.
The manager of the Tesco store, Osarugue Onaghise, also extended condolences, emphasizing the sadness felt by all colleagues at the store. A fundraiser was initiated by Mohamed’s family to cover funeral expenses and provide financial aid during this difficult period.
Described as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Mohamed was known for his kind and selfless nature. The fundraiser aims to honor his memory and support his family in their time of grief.
