A young woman, aged 19, passed away following a dog attack at her residence, sustaining severe traumatic injuries, as revealed during an inquiry. Jamie-Lea Biscoe was discovered by her father in an upstairs room at their residence in Leaden Roding, Essex, stated court coordinator Matthew Austin.
The teenager had suffered significant neck injuries during the incident on the evening of April 10, suspected to be inflicted by one of the family dogs. A forensic post-mortem examination attributed her cause of death to “neck injuries pending investigation of histology and toxicology,” as reported by Mr. Austin.
The Essex senior coroner, Lincoln Brookes, mentioned receiving a request from Essex Police to halt coronial proceedings until the completion of a criminal investigation. Expressing condolences, he acknowledged the tragic loss of Jamie-Lea Biscoe’s life, extending sympathies to her family and friends.
Essex Police responded to a call at Long Hide in Leaden Roding on April 10 at 10:45 pm, where Ms. Biscoe was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow, arrested on suspicion of dog mismanagement leading to fatal injury, has been released on bail until July for ongoing investigations, the police confirmed.
The involved dog, identified as a family pet suspected to be a lurcher crossbreed, was taken into custody, with tests underway to confirm its exact breed, according to police sources. Earlier communications from Essex Police indicated the sequence of events and the ongoing inquiries, emphasizing the tragic outcome despite emergency service efforts.
