A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition at the hospital after crashing a car that was reportedly stolen and driven by her.
The incident occurred in Melbourne’s south-east around 10:15 pm on Wednesday, July 29, on Peninsula Link near the Cranbourne-Frankston Road exit. The Honda Jazz, traveling north-bound, rolled multiple times after the driver lost control.
Emergency responders rescued two 14-year-old girls from the crash. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries, while the other girl had non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision and have not made any arrests yet.
According to a spokesperson from Victoria Police, the Somerville Highway Patrol is looking into the incident where a teenage girl crashed a suspected stolen vehicle in Langwarrin. The 14-year-old driver was hospitalized with severe injuries, while her female passenger, also 14 years old, received treatment for minor injuries.
The authorities are asking for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the grey Honda Jazz driving in the area before the crash to come forward.
