A traveler required immediate medical attention after being stung by one of the deadliest creatures on the planet, capable of causing death in less than five minutes.

Guy Rowles, a visitor from Australia, experienced a severe sting while surfing in Fiji during the initial day of his vacation. While in the water with his father, he encountered a jellyfish and managed to remove its tentacles after being stung.

The incident occurred at Cloudbreak, a renowned reef break in the Mamanuca Islands famous for its waves. Recalling the moment, Rowles described the sensation as akin to scalding hot oil pouring on his arm.

Subsequently, he was taken to a hospital in Nadi, located more than an hour away from the site of the incident. Despite feeling symptoms like a fiery arm, chest tightness, and convulsions, Rowles managed to survive the ordeal.

Following treatment at the hospital, which included the application of vinegar to neutralize remaining stinging cells, the surfer reflected on the harrowing experience. He emphasized the importance of the event in providing a new perspective on life.

Box jellyfish, known for their box-shaped bodies and potent venom-filled tentacles, are capable of inflicting fatal stings within minutes. These marine creatures are predominantly found in the Indo-Pacific region and northern Australia.

Prior to Rowles’ encounter, Fiji’s government had issued a health advisory regarding the presence of jellyfish in the waters. The alert urged caution and prompt medical attention for individuals exhibiting signs of jellyfish stings.

As Rowles returns to surfing, he remains grateful for surviving the dangerous encounter and acknowledges the potential severity of such incidents.
