Vladimir Putin has employed British nannies to care for his children, as recently revealed by leaked documents, despite his criticism of individuals adopting Western lifestyles as “traitors”.
The documents indicate significant annual expenditures on private tutors for two boys believed to be his offspring with former Olympic gymnast Alina Kabaeva, spanning from 2017 to early 2026.
Amid escalating anti-NATO rhetoric, Putin has continued to invest in personnel from Western nations to cultivate a Western-centric environment for his children, Vladimir Jr, approximately seven years old, and Ivan, aged 11. The boys receive tailored home-schooling emphasizing European languages like English and German, with a team of about 20 foreign tutors, including individuals from the UK, Germany, and Austria, providing their education.
Residing in a lavish mansion reportedly equipped with an anti-missile defense system, the children lead a secluded life devoid of conventional schooling or peer interaction. This contrasts with Putin’s previous condemnation of citizens drawing cultural influences from Western Europe as “national traitors” following the Ukraine conflict.
Given Putin’s increasing germophobia in his later years, the children’s possessions undergo stringent disinfection measures, while meticulous records track their meals and activities.
Household staff and tutors earn a substantial $8,000 (£6,000) monthly stipend to reside on-site, adhering to strict guidelines that prohibit LGBT subjects and sex education. The children are also restricted to portraying male characters during role-playing sessions, as per the documents.
Despite the lucrative compensation, insiders have described their time at the residence as unhappy, with one likening their experience to being “robots following orders in complete isolation from the world.” Notably, an English tutor referred to as “Harry A” requested a two-month unpaid leave in 2023 due to quarantine-related burnout.
Furthermore, Jane M, a British-Irish tutor, faced restrictions on visiting public places during her off-duty hours. The Kremlin has never officially acknowledged Putin’s rumored relationship with Alina Kabaeva or their alleged children.
