Prince Charles and Gareth Southgate have partnered to introduce a new program through the King’s Trust aimed at assisting young individuals in finding employment opportunities. This national initiative, set to commence in 2027, will provide support to individuals aged 18 to 30 through mentorship programs, online tools, and work experience placements. The program was officially launched by Prince Charles and the former England manager during a meeting with 20 young people who have already benefited from the King’s Trust support.

One of the beneficiaries, Trishna Lamichhane, expressed her gratitude towards Prince Charles for the work experience she gained through the charity’s retail program. She shared her journey of moving to Belfast from Nepal and the challenges she faced in adapting to the workplace culture. With the assistance of the King’s Trust, she now holds a position in HR at Marks & Spencer, a role she deeply enjoys.

The collaboration between Prince Charles and Gareth Southgate comes at a critical time, as recent reports have highlighted the struggles faced by over a million young individuals not engaged in education, employment, or training. Sir Gareth, an ambassador for the King’s Trust, emphasized the importance of providing support to unlock the untapped potential of young talents. Reflecting on his own experience, he stressed the impact of having mentors and coaches guiding individuals towards success.

Before Prince Charles’s involvement, attendees received personalized guidance from leaders across various sectors during one-on-one sessions, including Sir Gareth. The event also saw the participation of prominent figures like Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, actor Benedict Cumberbatch, comedian Tom Davis, and broadcaster Sonali Shah in the mentoring sessions.

Prince Charles, who has been actively engaged in supporting young people through initiatives like the Youth Opportunity Summit, aims to address youth unemployment and empower individuals to create better futures. Over the past five decades, the King’s Trust has positively impacted more than 1.3 million young people across the UK, underscoring its commitment to fostering opportunities for the youth.
