The Greater Manchester Police disclosed that a man was apprehended for allegedly assaulting an emergency worker, possessing a bladed item, and carrying class B drugs. Additionally, an officer was reportedly assaulted during the police intervention.
A significant police presence lingers outside the Denmark Road Sports Centre this evening, with both Denmark Road and Cecil Street being cordoned off for public safety.
According to the Greater Manchester Police, the incident unfolded around 4:55 pm on Demark Road, leading to the arrest of the suspect for the aforementioned offenses. The individual remains in custody for further investigation.
Eyewitness Simon Bailey recounted the scene to Manchester Evening News, stating that the injured officer received medical attention after the altercation. Approximately 30 officers were on-site, securing the area with road closures.
