The long-established UK clothing manufacturer North East Rig Out (Aberdeen) Limited has gone into liquidation after over four decades in operation, resulting in the closure of its operations and leaving all remaining employees without jobs. The Aberdeen-based company, known for producing workwear, school uniforms, and custom protective clothing for various industries such as oil and gas, engineering, construction, transport, and retail, has ceased its activities permanently, leading to the termination of eight workers.

MHA, a firm of insolvency specialists, has been appointed as the liquidator following a decision to wind up the company voluntarily. Official documents filed under the Insolvency Act 1986 revealed that a meeting held on April 15 determined that the company could no longer sustain its operations due to its financial obligations.

The downfall of the company has been attributed to the ongoing challenges in Scotland’s energy sector, which have placed significant financial pressure on businesses operating in the North-east region. Michael Reid from MHA, appointed as the liquidator, expressed the difficulty of the situation, emphasizing the impact of the energy sector downturn on numerous businesses in the area.

The company, also known as NERO, specialized in manufacturing both standard and custom garments, including personalized PPE and coveralls tailored for industrial clients. Offering a wide range of workwear products focusing on design, functionality, durability, and comfort, the company also provided services like embroidery, heatseal branding, and laser logo applications for corporate customers, schools, and sports clubs.

With a product range tailored for industries such as oil and gas, construction, automotive, aviation, shipping, military, and public sector organizations, North East Rig Out emphasized its commitment to delivering high-quality workwear solutions tailored to the unique needs of its clients.
