Kerry Needham, the mother of Ben Needham, was deeply shocked and devastated when South Yorkshire Police announced they would no longer be investigating her son’s disappearance. The police informed her that the responsibility for any future inquiries into Ben’s case now lies with the Greek authorities due to constraints on time and resources.

Expressing her frustration and disappointment, Kerry stated that she feels like giving up the search for Ben since the Greek police have shown little interest in the case. She emphasized her dedication to keeping Ben’s case alive and exploring all possible leads to uncover the truth.

Kerry revealed that plans for further investigations, including witness re-interviews and meetings with the Greek public prosecutor, have been canceled. Instead, any information gathered will be forwarded to Interpol and the Greek authorities for handling.

Despite South Yorkshire Police’s assurance of continued support, Kerry expressed her concern about the Greek police’s handling of the case, citing previous allegations of a cover-up and mishandling of witness statements. She highlighted the need for ongoing support from British authorities in investigating Ben’s disappearance.

Kerry’s efforts to seek justice for Ben have been ongoing for over three decades, with her latest plea directed at government officials to intervene and address the disparities in investigative support between Ben’s case and other high-profile missing child cases.

The statement from South Yorkshire Police reiterated their commitment to assisting Greek authorities with any new evidence and emphasized the need for appropriate channels, such as Interpol, for sharing information. They assured Kerry that they would continue to allocate resources, including a family liaison officer and a detective dedicated to the case.

Kerry remains skeptical of the Greek Police’s capabilities and past actions, recalling instances where crucial information was overlooked or mishandled. Despite facing challenges and setbacks, she remains determined to seek justice for Ben and urges the public to support her efforts in ensuring that his case is not forgotten.
