The Montreal Roses took swift action by dismissing their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, conveyed the decision through a press release, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his foundational role in establishing the professional women’s soccer team.
Acknowledging the difficulty of parting ways with the coach, Pichon emphasized the necessity of injecting new energy to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and future growth. Despite Rositoiu’s efforts, the Roses, currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, are gearing up for the remaining 10 regular-season matches.
Appointed in September 2024 for the inaugural NSL season in 2025, Rositoiu will be replaced by Maryse Bard-Martel as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel, who previously served as the team’s first assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will assume coaching responsibilities for the upcoming game against AFC Toronto while the club searches for a permanent successor.
This coaching transition comes amidst the team’s ongoing campaign in the NSL, as they strive to maintain their competitive edge and secure a strong finish in the league standings.
