The body of a monk who had been missing was found in the water near a Scottish island.

The individual, identified as Justin Evans, 24, also known as Brother Ignatius, disappeared from Papa Stronsay in Orkney on April 12.

Authorities in Scotland reported that a man’s body was sighted in the water around 7:25 a.m. last Wednesday. The body has been confirmed to be that of Mr. Evans, and his family has been notified, according to the police.

The police stated that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal for review.

Mr. Evans, originally from New Zealand and a member of the Redemptorist Community, was last seen at Golgotha Monastery on Papa Stronsay just before midnight on April 11, as reported by the Daily Record.

The Diocese of Aberdeen had previously expressed profound sadness over what it described as the “disappearance and presumed death” of the 24-year-old.
