Moise Bombito revealed that a conversation with Canadian national team coach Jesse Marsch influenced his decision. Despite his physical challenges, the 26-year-old center back was determined not to miss the upcoming FIFA World Cup hosted in Canada.
Facing chronic pain in his left tibia, Bombito is scheduled for surgery, as confirmed by his club team Nice. The Ligue 1 side disclosed that the Montreal native underwent a scan on his leg, leading to the decision for surgical intervention.
During a translated interview with Nice, Bombito shared his commitment to represent his country at the World Cup despite his leg issues. He acknowledged the conflict between his determination to play and his body’s signals.
Following a tibia fracture on October 5, Bombito recovered to participate in this summer’s games for Canada. Despite playing in three matches, including a full 90 minutes in the victory over South Africa, he struggled with his physical condition.
Expressing disappointment over his injury setback, Bombito admitted to pushing himself during the tournament but acknowledged his limitations. He emphasized the need to recover fully to return to his best form.
Upon his return to Nice, Bombito continued to experience discomfort and pain, contemplating the necessity of surgery. The decision on the surgical procedure was expected to be made in consultation with the coaching and medical staff by the end of August.
Describing his persistent pain and its impact on his daily activities, Bombito expressed his eagerness to overcome the issue and return to peak performance. Having joined Nice in 2024 after his tenure with the Colorado Rapids, Bombito’s career has been marked by challenges due to injuries.
Despite the hurdles, Bombito remains focused on regaining his fitness and contributing positively on the field for both club and country.
