Passengers on a Ryanair flight were left in panic when a cabin window shattered mid-flight, causing a man to be partially sucked out at 20,000 feet. The incident occurred as the plane was en route from Thessaloniki to Munich on July 10. The man, identified as Ljubiša Karović from Serbia, was traveling with his wife, Svetlana Grković, when the harrowing event unfolded.
The pilot detected an engine issue over North Macedonia, prompting a decision to return to Thessaloniki. During the descent, a damaged part of the engine broke off, striking a cabin window and leading to the 61-year-old man being partially sucked out of the aircraft due to the intense winds.
Svetlana Grković desperately held onto her husband’s legs while three other courageous passengers assisted in pulling him back inside the plane. In a bid to secure the compromised window, fellow travelers tried to block the gap using available luggage.
Despite the efforts to save him, Ljubiša Karović sustained severe injuries and remains hospitalized. His wife expressed gratitude towards the passengers who helped rescue her husband. Ryanair confirmed the incident, detailing that the flight returned safely to Thessaloniki, and arrangements were made for passengers to continue their journey to Memmingen on a replacement aircraft.
