The Met Office has issued a warning for potential power cuts in six areas due to anticipated thunderstorms and rain on Tuesday. The alert covers Northern Ireland from midday to 9pm, advising of possible disruptions to power and services. To prepare for potential outages, the Met Office recommends having torches, batteries, mobile phone chargers, and essential supplies ready.

Showers are expected to intensify throughout Tuesday, becoming heavy and locally thundery in the afternoon, bringing 20 to 30mm of rain per hour. The forecast also includes strong winds, hail, and slow-moving downpours, with conditions gradually improving in the evening. Residents in the warned regions are urged to be vigilant for flash flooding risks and to check road conditions before traveling.

In the event of thunder, individuals are advised to seek shelter in a secure enclosed space, such as a car, avoiding trees or structures that could attract lightning strikes. Additionally, the Met Office predicts showers in Scotland and western parts of the UK, with heavy rain in the north, scattered showers in the south, warm and humid conditions, and gusty winds in the northern regions.
