A man identified as Carl Ennis, aged 54, succumbed to his injuries days after an assault at a chip shop in Stockbridge Village. The incident occurred at The Village Chippy on Leach Croft around 7.30pm on April 17. Carl, also known as “Scully,” sustained a severe head injury during the attack but received aid from the staff before leaving the establishment with his food.
Following his admission to the hospital, the ambulance service notified the police about the situation. Merseyside Police announced Carl’s passing on Tuesday, prompting the assault investigation to transition into a murder inquiry. A 25-year-old man from Stockbridge Village, arrested for suspected section 18 wounding with intent, is currently on conditional bail.
Carl, a father with connections to Boode Croft and Woodfarm Hey in Stockbridge Village, was described by loved ones as having a compassionate nature and a passion for wildlife. Tributes poured in after his demise, with many reminiscing about his genuine character and shared experiences.
