An individual from Edinburgh tragically passed away while vacationing in Spain. The man, who has not been formally identified, was on holiday with his spouse in Mallorca when he suddenly died on Wednesday, April 15. Although the exact cause of death is unknown, reports suggest he died unexpectedly while staying at the Puerto Azul Suite Hotel in Puerto Pollensa.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has stated that they are in touch with the man’s family and are offering assistance. They have also confirmed that they are coordinating with the Spanish authorities.
A spokesperson from the FCDO mentioned, “We are supporting the family of a British citizen who passed away in Spain and are in communication with the local authorities,” as reported by Edinburgh Live.
The Puerto Azul Suite Hotel, a four-star resort in Puerto Pollensa, offers stunning views of the UNESCO World Heritage Tramuntana mountain range and is conveniently located near beaches, making it a popular choice among British vacationers.
In a separate incident, Chiara Jaconis, 30, tragically lost her life while celebrating her birthday on a dream trip to Naples, Italy, with her boyfriend. During a leisurely walk in the city, an onyx statue weighing 4.4lbs was thrown by a 13-year-old boy from a third-floor residence, striking Chiara on the head.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and Chiara underwent surgery at the hospital. Despite medical efforts, Chiara succumbed to traumatic brain injuries two days later.
The Mirror has reached out to The Puerto Azul Suite Hotel for a comment.
