The family of a 35-year-old man who tragically lost his life due to stab wounds in an east London garden has paid tribute to his “beautiful spirit” that brought happiness and positivity to those around him.
Mark Orabiyi was found in a garden on Rayleigh Road, Silvertown, Newnham, following a police response to a stabbing incident on Pankhurst Avenue around 9 am on Friday, as reported by the Metropolitan Police. Despite being taken to the hospital, Mr. Orabiyi was pronounced dead upon arrival, despite the efforts of paramedics.
Another man in his twenties, who was also injured in the stabbing, is currently receiving treatment in the hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not considered life-threatening or life-altering.
In a heartfelt statement, Mr. Orabiyi’s family described him as a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, emphasizing his kind nature, positive energy, and exceptional abilities. They expressed their enduring love and memories of him, stating that his impact on their lives will be forever cherished.
A murder investigation has been initiated by the authorities, with three individuals being detained on suspicion of murder. A 27-year-old man has been released on bail, while a 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been released without further action after being questioned.
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke, leading the investigation, expressed her condolences to Mark’s family and urged anyone with information or relevant footage from the incident to come forward to assist with the investigation.
The Metropolitan Police provided details of the incident, mentioning the response to the stabbing on Pankhurst Avenue and the discovery of the victim in the nearby garden. The arrested individuals are being held in police custody pending further inquiries.
