A halt in hostilities should aim to prevent further casualties rather than determining who will be targeted next. Despite a ceasefire agreement in place, Lebanon remains excluded, leading to ongoing Israeli airstrikes in the region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has affirmed that the military operations will persist despite the temporary truce on Iranian soil.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has condemned the escalating violence as a massacre, emphasizing the unacceptable loss of civilian lives due to diplomatic loopholes. The continuous bombing poses a significant risk of disrupting the fragile peace and escalating the conflict towards a full-scale war. During his trip to Saudi Arabia, Keir Starmer urged Netanyahu to cease the attacks.

It is imperative for global leaders, including Starmer, to take decisive actions beyond mere rhetoric, as mere words lose significance when missiles continue to strike. A ceasefire that could potentially reignite conflict cannot be considered a genuine ceasefire.

The impact of the Mirror’s organ donation campaign has been profound, saving lives worldwide. Notably, 17-year-old leukemia patient Leo Sproson from Bromsgrove received life-saving stem cells after the campaign’s intervention. In another instance, Zambian teenager Jackson Makungu underwent a successful bone marrow transplant in India facilitated by a collaboration between the Mirror and blood cancer charity DKMS.

Three additional lives have been saved following the selfless decision of Orla Wates’ family to donate her organs after her tragic demise in a motorcycle accident in Vietnam. These stories underscore the importance of organ donation, turning sorrow into hope and loss into life. Joining stem cell and organ donation registries can make a significant difference.
