Labour has surpassed Reform in two significant polls while Nigel Farage engages in a public dispute with a humorous character. According to Survation’s polling data, Labour has taken the lead over Mr. Farage’s party after more than a year, with the Prime Minister’s team garnering 26% of the vote, compared to Reform’s 24%.

These results follow More In Common’s data showing Labour ahead by four percentage points, with 28% versus 24% for Reform. Mr. Farage, facing financial allegations, is currently involved in a challenging by-election in Clacton, where his main opponent is the satirical candidate Count Binface.

Additionally, YouGov and Sky News polls indicate that Labour and Reform are tied at 22%, marking the first time since April last year. In a setback for Reform, More In Common’s polling suggests that Labour’s Bev Craig is leading with 39% compared to Reform’s 19% in the Greater Manchester mayoral race.

Mr. Farage is under scrutiny for accepting an undisclosed £5 million gift from a cryptocurrency billionaire, Christopher Harborne. Despite facing investigations, he initiated a costly by-election in Clacton, where he is contending against Count Binface and 32 other candidates.

The undisclosed gift was received in 2024, shortly before Mr. Farage announced his candidacy for the general election. While parliamentary regulations mandate the disclosure of gifts received within 12 months before becoming an MP, Mr. Farage argues that it was a personal, unconditional gift.

The ongoing investigation may resume if Mr. Farage wins against Binface next month. In a recent YouGov poll, a majority of Britons favor Mr. Burnham over Mr. Farage for the role of Prime Minister. Mr. Farage, who has been relatively quiet, faces public skepticism regarding his actions to divert attention from the ongoing inquiries.

In response to the poll results, Mr. Burnham emphasized the need for optimism and connecting with the public. Count Binface, also known as Jonathan Harvey, unveiled his manifesto, promising not to accept large gifts from billionaires and proposing various quirky policies, including capping bus fares and ice cream prices.

Count Binface also pledged to represent the UK at Eurovision in 2027 and introduced unconventional ideas like taxing celebrity-written crime novels and making arcade games fairer. His humor-filled campaign aims to bring a fresh perspective to the political landscape.
