A fresh photograph of the King has been released, showing him recording a message to commemorate the 100th anniversary of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The Mirror disclosed earlier this month that Charles would be taping a special video message to honor the late Queen’s life and legacy, with intentions to release it tomorrow. Sources close to the King indicate that he will use the message to pledge to uphold the values of duty, honesty, and integrity that his mother cherished during her 70-year reign.

Facing challenges at the start of his reign following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on September 8, 2022, Charles has been navigating personal health issues and managing his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s controversies. Last October, the King made the decision to permanently distance Andrew from the royal circle due to further troubling revelations about his association with the convicted criminal, Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite battling cancer since February 2024, Charles received positive news recently that his treatment will be less frequent. His popularity remains high, with 60% of Britons holding a favorable view of his reign. Despite his illness, the 77-year-old King has maintained a busy schedule of engagements, earning the unofficial title of the ‘hardest working royal’ for his numerous public appearances.

Palace sources state that the King is committed to maintaining a full schedule of engagements for the 100th birthday commemorations. These celebrations will include public events and a special reception at Buckingham Palace, aiming to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II in a festive manner.

Reflecting on the challenges and successes of his early reign, the King has remained positive amidst adversity, continuing his cancer treatment while fulfilling a demanding work agenda. His message in the upcoming address will not only celebrate a life well lived but also renew his commitment to serving the nation and the Commonwealth, emphasizing values such as fairness and the well-being of others.

In a significant royal milestone, Elizabeth II became the longest-serving monarch of Britain on September 9, 2015, surpassing the record set by her great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria. In 2022, the nation celebrated the queen’s Platinum Jubilee, marking her 70-year reign. She peacefully passed away at her Balmoral residence in Scotland a few months later at the age of 96.

Today, the King will commence a series of engagements to honor his late mother, accompanied by members of the Royal Family. This evening, he and Queen Camilla will visit the King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace to view an exhibition titled “Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style,” showcasing her extensive wardrobe. Tomorrow, on the centenary day, the King will host a special reception at Buckingham Palace for representatives from organizations and charities closely associated with the late Queen, carefully selected from her numerous patronages.

Senior royal family members are expected to join the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace for the commemorative event. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, are also anticipated to attend the special reception.
