Jet2 Airlines has issued a statement following the tragic death of a passenger on a flight bound for Manchester Airport. The passenger, identified as Callum Kerr, 35, from Warrington, was onboard flight LS966 from Larnaca, Cyprus, with his girlfriend. Witnesses recounted that Mr. Kerr had displayed disruptive behavior during the flight, allegedly fueled by pre-flight alcohol consumption.
Greater Manchester Police responded to reports of a man behaving aggressively towards passengers and crew upon the aircraft’s arrival at Manchester Airport at 2.25 am. Passengers had reportedly restrained Mr. Kerr before police intervened. Despite efforts to administer CPR, he was pronounced dead at the hospital on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for Jet2 expressed condolences to the deceased’s loved ones and refrained from further comment due to ongoing investigations. The police have referred the case to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for scrutiny of the officers’ actions. The Major Incident Team is also investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mr. Kerr was not under arrest, and no arrests were made, although two assault reports were filed—one against a passenger and another against a cabin crew member. In a statement released through the police, Mr. Kerr’s family described him as a devoted family man, father to three children, and a sports enthusiast with a kind heart.
