An influencer has allegedly fled after being sentenced to three years in prison for causing the death of a personal trainer by hitting him with her SUV. Shocking video footage captured Rosa Iberê Tavares Dantas performing a risky maneuver at an intersection and colliding with Talis Roque da Silva.
Talis, aged 31, was thrown off his motorcycle, struck a metal pole, and suffered multiple fractures before landing on the ground. Despite efforts by medical staff to save him, he succumbed to a cardiac arrest at the hospital.
Despite her claim online that she provided assistance at the scene, the footage contradicted Dantas, 25 at the time, showing no signs of her offering help.
The incident took place in Manaus, Brazil, on August 31, 2023, as reported by NeedToKnow. Dantas was recently handed a three-year prison term on May 4 for the charge of negligent homicide.
Judge Áldrin Henrique de Castro Rodrigues from the 10th Criminal Court of Manaus ruled that she would serve her sentence in a semi-open prison, allowing her to work or study during the day but requiring her to return to a supervised facility at night. Additionally, she received a fine and a driving ban lasting one and a half years.
Dantas fled to Madrid, Spain, during the legal proceedings and is now a wanted fugitive. Her name has been listed in Brazil’s National Register of Arrest Warrants, with Interpol also notified. Before the accident, Dantas regularly promoted her tobacco shop and swimwear business to her substantial following of over 50,000 individuals.
She often shared updates on her fitness regimen, healthy eating habits, as well as her social activities, including fine dining and outings with friends. Dantas was known to keep exotic animals, such as three boa constrictors.
In a statement, she expressed sorrow over the tragic event and mentioned that only her family and God understood her feelings. The court ruling is subject to appeal.
