Environmental activists staged a protest at one of Donald Trump’s Scottish golf resorts without disrupting any golf activities. Greenpeace members placed miniature wind turbine replicas on the fourth hole green at Trump Turnberry Golf Club in South Ayrshire early on Monday and removed them as golfers approached. The demonstration was a response to Trump’s anti-wind turbine stance and support for oil and gas energy.
The activists acted following Trump’s recent social media post advocating for increased oil and gas extraction in the North Sea. Trump expressed his opposition to wind turbines in his message. Greenpeace highlighted that 65% of Scots oppose Trump’s preference for fossil fuels over renewable energy sources.
Lily-Rose Ellis, a Greenpeace climate campaigner, criticized Trump’s energy policies, emphasizing the benefits of renewable energy in reducing costs, enhancing security, and combating climate change. Trump Turnberry has not yet provided a response to the protest.
