A father tragically passed away after he noticed two individuals struggling in the water while enjoying a picnic with his family and bravely leaped in to rescue them.
Rushabh Patel, aged 28, was among the 18 casualties who lost their lives in water-related incidents over the Bank Holiday heatwave in the UK. On May 24, Patel witnessed the distress of two swimmers at the Newport Pagnell Beach wild swimming area near Milton Keynes.
Without hesitation, the 28-year-old entered the River Great Ouse and successfully saved the imperiled swimmers. Regrettably, Patel, believed to have left behind a wife and an 18-month-old daughter, tragically lost his life during his courageous act.
Following the incident, emergency services swiftly responded, airlifting him to Milton Keynes University Hospital. Despite extensive efforts by medical professionals over several days, Patel was sadly pronounced deceased on May 28.
Reports suggest that Patel suffered a cardiac arrest after plunging into the wild swimming location. Subsequent to his demise, his organs were donated, benefiting five individuals in need.
Expressing his sentiments, Patel’s brother, Aman, stated, “Rushabh’s final deed on this planet showcased extraordinary bravery and selflessness. He sacrificed his life to save others, epitomizing true heroism.”
In response to the tragic loss, a fundraising campaign has been initiated to aid Patel’s wife, Mili Patel, and their young daughter Vrumi. The GoFundMe initiative highlighted Patel’s endeavor to secure a brighter future for his family after relocating from India to the UK.
The fundraiser paid tribute, emphasizing Patel’s roles as a devoted father, loving husband, caring son, and loyal friend, whose benevolence touched all who knew him.
The heartfelt tribute conveyed the profound sorrow experienced by Patel’s family, particularly his wife, who lost her life partner, and his young daughter, who was deprived of a father to witness her milestones and dreams.
Furthermore, his parents mourned the loss of their cherished son, who tirelessly worked to provide for his family and aspired to offer his daughter the best opportunities for her future.
