A man who secretly filmed a woman changing in a shower cubicle at a popular swimming pool has been banned from visiting leisure facilities. Craig Ellingford, 44, was found to have lurked around the changing area at the Olympia Leisure Pool in Dundee until he believed he was alone with the unsuspecting woman. He then entered the adjacent cubicle and was caught when the woman noticed his mobile phone pointed towards her.

Ellingford, residing in Cardross Place, Dundee, admitted to committing voyeurism at the Olympia leisure pool complex. He used a mobile phone inside a shower cubicle to watch the woman undress, intending to observe her performing a private act. Surveillance footage showed Ellingford arriving at the pool, changing into gym attire, and closely monitoring the woman’s movements before entering the locker room and eventually the shower area.

The victim, upon realizing she was being filmed, confronted Ellingford, who ignored her and left the cubicle. She reported the incident to staff and then to the police, feeling visibly shaken and distressed. Ellingford’s defense solicitor acknowledged his remorse and embarrassment over the incident, emphasizing the impact it had on him and his family.

In court, Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon imposed a conduct order on Ellingford, prohibiting him from leisure facilities, placing him under supervision, and registering him as a sex offender for nine months. Additionally, Ellingford was sentenced to complete 165 hours of unpaid work. The sheriff highlighted the seriousness of the offense, noting Ellingford’s deliberate actions in following the woman into the shower cubicle as a cause for concern.
