A fatal incident on the M40 in Warwickshire has resulted in the death of a woman and severe injuries to a man following a multi-vehicle collision.
The emergency response was activated at approximately 10.50pm on Sunday, leading to lane closures causing traffic congestion between Junction 16 at Hockley Heath and Junction 15 at Warwick.
According to West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS), the woman was tragically pronounced dead at the crash site, while the man, now in critical condition, was swiftly transported to University Hospital Coventry. Two other men received on-site medical attention.
A spokesperson from WMAS stated: “Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered the deceased woman, and unfortunately, there were no lifesaving measures that could be taken.”
“Additionally, a man in serious condition was attended to before being urgently taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. The other two men were evaluated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”
