The family of Virginia Giuffre has issued an urgent appeal for King Charles to meet them during his upcoming US tour. Sky Roberts, the brother of Ms. Giuffre, emphasized that such a meeting would demonstrate solidarity with survivors, including those affected by the actions of Jeffrey Epstein. King Charles and Queen Camilla are scheduled to visit the US next week for a four-day trip, including a meeting with President Donald Trump.
Mr. Roberts and his family view this visit as a prime opportunity for King Charles to spend just 10 minutes with them, allowing them to convey that they are genuine individuals with real emotions. Speaking on Newsnight, Mr. Roberts stressed the importance of the King showing support for survivors, highlighting their close proximity during the visit and their intention to advocate for a brief meeting to humanize their experiences.
In addition to the White House banquet and an address at the US Congress, Charles and the Queen will also partake in various events during their visit. Recent investigations by the BBC revealed that Epstein continued to house women in London after the Metropolitan Police dismissed Ms. Giuffre’s trafficking allegations in 2015.
Mr. Roberts criticized the systemic failures of both the FBI and the Metropolitan Police, stating that taking Giuffre’s initial claim seriously could have prevented further abuse. The Roberts family, along with Lisa Phillips, another survivor, called for a public inquiry into allegations against Epstein in the UK. Amanda Roberts, the sister-in-law of Ms. Giuffre, emphasized the need for further investigations in light of new evidence regarding Epstein’s London properties.
Controversy arose in Congress this week over reports that certain Republican committee members were considering offering clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, in exchange for her testimony.
