An alleged maritime drone has detonated at the primary port in Romania situated along the Black Sea coastline, leading to a significant evacuation.
The explosion occurred at the Constanta port approximately at 10:30 am EEST (8:30 am UK time), prompting the immediate cordoning off of the vicinity as a massive plume of smoke billowed into the sky.
The environmentally friendly drone, equipped with antennas, was reportedly obstructed by anti-pollution barriers in the water before being located within the premises of the Romanian Agency for Human Life Saving at Sea.
Reports indicate that the “sea drone” was found around 5:50 am EEST (3:30 am BST) close to the headquarters of the Romanian Agency for Saving Human Life at Sea, situated in the North Pier region of the Constanta Port.
Law enforcement, gendarmerie, and border patrol personnel were dispatched to the site, where they enforced security measures and initiated inquiries.
