If you’re seeking an enjoyable outdoor activity, consider harvesting your own in-season vegetables and fruits for a memorable experience and access to fresh, local produce at reasonable prices.

Various farms nationwide offer pick-your-own options for strawberries, rhubarb, peas, blueberries, peaches, apples, and more. Having been a U-pick enthusiast for years, I’ve gathered garlic scapes, harvested asparagus spears, and even dug up my own messy potatoes.

Many farms feature additional attractions suitable for all ages, including corn mazes, playgrounds, petting zoos, and wagon rides, making it easy to transform a visit into a full day of rural entertainment.

The timing for each crop can vary significantly each year and by region, so it’s advisable to consult the harvest calendar for your locality and contact or check social media channels of nearby farms to verify their availability before visiting.

Here are 15 Canadian U-pick farms worth exploring this year.
