“Elderly Woman Sexually Assaulted in Woodroffe: Search Underway”

A search is in progress after an elderly woman was sexually assaulted by an intruder wearing flip-flops who entered her residence. The incident occurred in Woodroffe near Darwin, Australia, at approximately 8:50 pm on Wednesday.

According to a spokesperson for the Northern Territory Police, the man broke into the woman’s home, committed the assault, and fled the scene. Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit are actively pursuing the perpetrator, who is still at large.

Law enforcement described the suspect as having an Aboriginal appearance, tall and slender, with wavy hair. He was reportedly dressed in a light-colored top, dark shorts, and flip-flops during the attack.

Authorities have been scouring the area for surveillance footage and are asking the public to provide any information that may aid the investigation.

In a morning press briefing, Northern Territory Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby expressed her strong disapproval of the assault and emphasized the need for the culprit to be apprehended and face justice.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed suspicious behavior in the vicinity on Wednesday night to come forward with any relevant details.

An official statement from the police stated, “The Northern Territory Police Force is seeking information following a reported sexual assault in Woodroffe earlier this week. At around 8:50 pm on Wednesday, a woman was allegedly assaulted at her residence on Woodroffe Avenue, Palmerston. Investigations suggest that the unidentified male suspect entered through the front door, assaulted the woman, and fled.”
