An elderly woman named Beatrice Carruth, 86, tragically lost her life due to injuries sustained in a dog attack, as per the police report. The incident occurred at her residence on NE 27th Street and Highland Drive near Moore, Oklahoma, around 5:45 pm on Thursday, July 2. Upon arrival, officers found Carruth with severe injuries and administered emergency aid, including tourniquets, before medical assistance arrived. Despite their efforts, she was in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
Moore Animal Control was called in to remove the dog from her home following the incident. The dog, described as a Labrador retriever mixed with American pit bull terrier, was later euthanized by authorities. It was revealed that Carruth had been looking after the dog while her son, Jason Clay Ingram, was incarcerated.
Ingram had been arrested earlier for allegedly assaulting his mother and damaging property. Family members of Carruth disclosed that the dog had previously attacked her, leading to her hospitalization for several days. They had urged Ingram to have the dog put down, but he insisted on his mother caring for it. Carruth’s relatives are now seeking additional charges against Ingram, claiming that Carruth was pressured into keeping the dangerous animal against her will.
The Moore Police Department expressed condolences to all affected by the tragic incident. Court records further detailed the troubling events surrounding Carruth’s death and the circumstances involving the dog in question.
