A man passed away due to a heart attack while pulling the lifeless body of his girlfriend, who is suspected of being murdered, through the forest, according to an autopsy report. Jessica Folds, a mother of three from Lanett, Alabama, and the suspected perpetrator, Daniel Robbins, 44, from Macon, Georgia, were discovered deceased on June 10 in a wooded area near the small rural community where Folds grew up.
Chambers County Sheriff Jeff Nelson informed local news channel WTVM that police located the 47-year-old mother’s body with her hands raised over her head, just a short distance from her residence. A post-mortem examination confirmed that she had been strangled to death.
Robbins’ body was found beside Folds’ body, in a fetal position. Authorities observed a distinct ‘drag path’ at the scene.
Although the exact duration of their relationship remains undisclosed by the police, public records indicate that the 47-year-old mother and grandmother lost her husband of five years in February of the previous year. While the location of the alleged homicide is unclear, law enforcement suspects that Robbins murdered Folds during a domestic violence incident the previous night. District Attorney Mike Segrest stated that officials believe Robbins was attempting to dispose of her body when he suffered a fatal heart attack. Segrest mentioned, “He died of a heart attack while doing it. Their bodies were found together at the scene.”
Police were alerted to the wooded area around noon on June 10 after a passerby noticed an abandoned vehicle parked on a dirt road with the engine running. The driver’s side door was open, and the tailgate was down. Following this discovery, authorities traced drag marks through the dirt.
The drag marks began next to the lowered tailgate and truck bed and ended in the underbrush where the two bodies were located. Initially, the passerby who found the car and deceased couple mistook their bodies for mannequins, as reported by the county sheriff to a local TV news station, WTVM. Folds is survived by three adult sons and two grandchildren. Her obituary described her as someone who touched many lives with her kind-hearted nature, universal love, and radiant smile.
Robbins had a daughter. His obituary has been removed from the funeral home’s website that is handling his burial. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the alleged murder, which is still being investigated.
