In a video announcement, the 80-year-old singer assured viewers that the musical would stay true to her life story, focusing on her roots, challenges faced, joys experienced, and the path she forged for herself. The production will feature a mix of new songs created for the show and some of Parton’s iconic hits like “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5.”
Scheduled to kick off on December 7 in New York City, the performances are slated to run until November 21, 2027. Parton expressed her excitement, calling the musical a dream come true as she nears her seventh decade in the industry. With over 3,000 songs to her credit and more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, she is a respected figure in both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The musical premiered in Nashville last summer to a sold-out six-week run at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Director Bartlett Sher highlighted the strong connection audiences have with Parton and the joy she has brought them over the years. The show aims to present Parton’s unfiltered narrative, going beyond the glitz and glamour associated with her image.
Tickets for the Broadway show will go on sale to the public on Friday, July 10, offering fans a chance to experience the legendary singer’s life story in a new and intimate light.
