After disappearing during a countryside stroll, a dog named Krakka faced a challenging ordeal trapped in mud for two days. The beloved terrier went missing after a walk with her owner, Glynis Elgey, near Shiptonthorpe village in East Yorkshire on April 30. Following Krakka’s disappearance, Elgey sought help from Steve Priestman of Drone SAR for Lost Dogs UK, a group dedicated to reuniting lost dogs with their owners.

Despite initial attempts to locate Krakka using a drone proving unsuccessful, the team shifted focus to a less obvious area. Their efforts paid off when they discovered a patch of nettles and heard a faint whimper, leading them to the trapped dog.

Rescuers followed the sounds of Krakka’s distress and eventually unearthed her from a rabbit warren where she had become stuck, likely due to a small landslide. With Krakka struggling to free herself, the team worked swiftly to release her from the mud, reuniting her with Elgey after 48 hours of separation.

Elgey expressed her joy at finding Krakka alive, recounting the emotional moment when the dog was rescued. Video footage captured the heartwarming reunion between Krakka and her owner, showcasing the relief felt by both parties.

A representative from Drone SAR For Lost Dogs UK detailed the rescue operation, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the team, including pilot Steve Priestman, ground searcher Jennifer Zarek, and Krakka’s owners, David Hudson and Glynis Elgey, in successfully retrieving the trapped terrier.
