Thrill-seekers were compelled to evacuate a popular attraction at Blackpool Pleasure Beach due to concerns that it was on the verge of derailing. The Big Dipper, one of the world’s oldest rollercoasters located at the Pleasure Beach resort in Blackpool, came to a halt around 2 pm on Thursday. Social media footage showed damaged wooden slats between the rails, indicating a possible derailment incident.

Following the incident, Pleasure Beach Resort announced the closure of the ride for investigation purposes. They confirmed that the carriages stopped but did not come off the tracks. A spokesperson from Pleasure Beach Resort informed LancsLive that the incident occurred at a low point in the ride and that a manual deboarding procedure was conducted safely with no reported injuries. An internal investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the stoppage.

Comments on social media reflected various experiences with the Big Dipper, including observations of maintenance work on the track and concerns about ride stability. Despite the incident, Blackpool Pleasure Beach was recently recognized as the top UK destination for entertaining children on holiday. It ranked sixth internationally, with Disney and Universal claiming the top positions as summer holidays are in full swing.
