The Big Dipper, one of the world’s oldest rollercoasters located at the Pleasure Beach resort in Blackpool, came to a halt around 2 pm on Thursday. Social media footage showed damaged wooden slats between the rails, indicating a possible derailment incident.
Following the incident, Pleasure Beach Resort announced the closure of the ride for investigation purposes. They confirmed that the carriages stopped but did not come off the tracks. A spokesperson from Pleasure Beach Resort informed LancsLive that the incident occurred at a low point in the ride and that a manual deboarding procedure was conducted safely with no reported injuries. An internal investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the stoppage.
