A tragic incident occurred in France as a football fan lost his life and another individual fought for survival following the Champions League final triumph of PSG over Arsenal. Over 400 individuals were apprehended during the ensuing chaos that erupted across the nation, with the most severe unrest taking place in Paris.

The turmoil peaked in the capital, where clashes between law enforcement and young demonstrators persisted throughout the night until the early hours of Sunday. An investigation was initiated after a 17-year-old male was viciously stabbed near the Champs Élysée, resulting in his hospitalization in critical condition.

According to sources, the victim was attacked by a group of individuals in an incident related to football-related violence. The assailants are being pursued, facing potential charges of attempted murder. In a separate incident, a 23-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life after colliding head-on with a concrete block while celebrating PSG’s victory.

The French authorities detained approximately 780 individuals in connection with the violent incidents that transpired in Paris and other locations across the country. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez disclosed that 57 police officers sustained injuries during the unrest, with most injuries being minor. The disturbances included fires being set and shops being vandalized, with some individuals attempting to breach a police station in Paris.

During a press briefing, Nuñez reassured the public that the situation was largely under control, emphasizing that the majority of celebrations unfolded peacefully. He noted that the disturbances were concentrated around the Champs Elysees and the Parc des Princes stadium, where fans had gathered to watch the match. Law enforcement intervened multiple times to prevent traffic disruptions on the main orbital motorway encircling Paris.

In total, 780 individuals were apprehended, with 480 arrests in the Paris region alone. The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that 277 individuals, including 82 juveniles, were placed in police custody for various alleged offenses, such as assaults on police officers, theft, vandalism, and public order violations.

Despite the incidents, the planned victory celebrations at the Champ de Mars were set to proceed as scheduled. President Emmanuel Macron is expected to host the PSG team at the Elysee presidential palace following their triumph in the final match in Budapest.

Fans gathered in large numbers around iconic landmarks in Paris, with some engaging in celebratory activities. However, smaller groups caused disturbances in various locations, targeting shops and setting fires. Law enforcement successfully dispersed individuals attempting to storm a police station in the 8th Arrondissement district.

This incident follows a similar occurrence last year when PSG claimed their first title, resulting in numerous injuries and arrests across the country.
