A noted health professional has expressed serious worries about the health condition of US President Donald Trump.

Trump, set to reach 80 years old in June, is scheduled for his third medical examination at Walter Reed National Military Center in 13 months, as confirmed by the White House. This visit has sparked increased speculation regarding his well-being.

Traditionally, presidents make one annual visit to Walter Reed, yet Trump made two trips in 2025 alone, one of which was initially stated to be for an MRI but later revealed to be a CT scan.

The White House has affirmed that all of Trump’s visits to Walter Reed have been disclosed and reported.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated last month, “He has never made an undisclosed visit to Walter Reed.”

Renowned cardiologist Jonathan Reiner, speaking to The Washington Post, mentioned concerns about the lack of transparency from the White House regarding Trump’s health, especially as he nears 80 years old.

Notably, Reiner, who is a professor of medicine and heads the cardiac catheterisation laboratory at The George Washington University Hospital, highlighted his concern over the visible swelling in Trump’s legs.

In July, the White House disclosed that Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a condition common in aging individuals where veins struggle to return blood to the heart, leading to leg swelling.

Although Trump’s medical report from April 2025 did not mention this condition, Reiner suggested that if it developed after that report, it might indicate a condition called acute edema, which could be related to congestive heart failure.

According to the Daily Beast, there was no mention of this condition in Trump’s October medical report either.

The ongoing discussion about Trump’s health has focused on various issues, including recurrent bruising on the back of his hands, which the White House attributed to frequent handshakes.

Reiner remarked, “We have observed similar bruising on his left hand occasionally, and it is unlikely that he shakes hands with his left hand.”
