Child Missing in River Wharfe Tragedy

A child is reported missing after encountering difficulties in the River Wharfe in the Yorkshire Dales. Emergency services are currently responding in the village of Burnsall, north of Skipton, following reports of a young individual in distress in the water. The child’s family alerted authorities on Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses observed the Yorkshire Air Ambulance landing near the river around 7 pm on Sunday, as per Yorkshire Live. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are also present at the scene. Police deployed drones in the search operation, which has been halted for the night.

The child’s age remains unknown, with family members observing the unfolding events from a nearby hillside. A local pub patron expressed sympathy, stating, “It is tragic for the family. It was such a lovely afternoon as well. We can’t believe it.”
