Three individuals, including an eight-year-old child, have been hospitalized following a car accident at the Cardiff Gate services near junction 30 of the M4 motorway. South Wales Police reported that the incident occurred around 11:45 am today.
The hospitalized individuals consist of the child and a 39-year-old man, who were pedestrians, and a 76-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle. An eyewitness recounted that a black BMW car hit people seated at a table before colliding with the main building at the service station.
The witness described the scene as distressing, with bystanders trying to lift the car off the impacted area. The front window of the building was shattered due to the collision. The witness speculated that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency due to the speed at which the vehicle crashed into the building.
Another witness shared their experience, mentioning how the car narrowly avoided hitting a 13-year-old before striking pedestrians and the service station. The witness recalled the loud crash as the car went through the window, causing screams to echo in their ears.
South Wales Police issued a statement confirming the incident and stating that an investigation is ongoing. They noted that none of the injuries are life-threatening. Anyone who witnessed the event is urged to contact the authorities with reference number 2600162925 for further information.
