An alligator responsible for a horrific attack that led to the death of a woman in front of her boyfriend has been captured after a weeks-long effort by authorities. Brittany Clark, 31, suffered a brutal attack on June 29 when the 13-foot beast ripped off both of her arms while she was swimming in a river at the Little Big Econ State Forest in Florida the day before. The incident occurred during a hike with her boyfriend, Chance Allison, and roommate.
A chilling 911 call from Mr. Allison revealed the extent of the attack on Ms. Clark. Trappers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) successfully captured two alligators, one measuring 12 feet and the other 13 feet, following the incident. DNA testing and bite marks confirmed that the larger alligator was responsible for the injuries inflicted on Ms. Clark.
During the attack, Ms. Clark was dragged underwater by the alligator while Mr. Allison attempted to rescue her. Both were pulled underwater, with the alligator releasing its grip momentarily before latching onto Ms. Clark’s other arm. Despite Mr. Allison’s efforts to save her and the prompt emergency response, Ms. Clark succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
Described as an “amazing person” by her family, Ms. Clark’s final request to Mr. Allison was to take care of her German Shepherd, Hokie. Her tragic death has left her loved ones and community in mourning.
