The Canadian senior women’s basketball team dominated the Philippines with a resounding 85-38 victory at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico. Yvonne Ejim led the scoring for Canada with 19 points, while Syla Swords contributed 15 points to the team’s success.
Canada quickly established a commanding lead of 23-4 at Arena Astros and continued their dominance throughout the game, leading 46-11 at halftime. The tournament features eight teams and will run until Sunday, offering intense competition for all participants.
Following their initial triumph over Senegal with a score of 72-57 in the tournament opener on Monday, the Canadian team is set to face host Mexico in their upcoming match on Thursday. The ultimate victor of the tournament will secure a spot in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments scheduled for February 2028.
