A British teenager, described as “deeply loved,” has tragically passed away following a fall from a balcony in Athens. The 17-year-old boy suffered severe injuries after the incident at a hotel in Chalandri, a district in the Greek capital, during the early hours of July 3. Despite being rushed to Erythros Stavros Hospital in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries.
Reports indicate that the teen fell approximately four meters and was critically injured upon arrival at the hospital. It is believed that he had purchased alcohol from a nearby kiosk with a companion before the accident.
In a statement released through the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, the family expressed profound grief over the loss of their talented son, describing him as an exceptional guitarist who brought happiness to those around him. They emphasized his irreplaceable presence and the lasting impact he had on others, highlighting his warmth and spirit.
The family also took the opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of obtaining a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) for British travelers, in addition to regular insurance, to ensure coverage for medical treatment while abroad. They requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their son and urged respect for their family’s grieving process. Further updates or statements regarding the incident were not provided at this time.
