A British shipping company has gone bankrupt, owing creditors nearly £140,000. Jaco Couriers Limited, based in Aberdeen, was forced into liquidation after legal action by HMRC. The court petition, filed in February at Aberdeen Sheriff Court, led to the appointment of Duncan Raggett from AAB Business & Tax Advisory as the liquidator.
According to official records from Companies House, Jaco Couriers Limited, a company specializing in same-day courier services in Aberdeen and across the UK, had outstanding debts of £139,000 in 2024. The HMRC emphasized that they resort to winding-up petitions as a last resort after exhausting all other options to safeguard taxpayers’ funds.
Financial challenges have also hit another Scottish business recently. Woodside Homes Limited, based in Glasgow, has entered a members’ voluntary liquidation process to settle its debts in full. FRP Advisory has been chosen as the liquidator following a shareholders’ decision to wind up the company voluntarily, despite its ability to meet financial obligations.
