British Rugby Player Dies After Turkey Assault

A British rugby player tragically passed away after an alleged assault during a family vacation in Turkey resulted in him being declared brain dead. Scot James, 34, was pronounced brain dead on July 11 in Turkey and later succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at The Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Wales.

James, a beloved figure who played for Maesteg Celtic RFC, was remembered as a devoted father, son, grandson, and partner, with tributes pouring in on social media. A fundraising campaign was initiated to support his family during their extended stay in Turkey.

His sister, Hannah, shared the heartbreaking news of his passing, recounting the family’s ordeal in Turkey and their final moments together before his life support was turned off. The Foreign Office confirmed its collaboration with local authorities in response to James’ tragic demise.

The Maesteg Celtics RFC expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their former player, honoring James as a remarkable athlete and a cherished friend. Efforts to obtain comments from Turkish authorities on the incident are ongoing.
