A 23-year-old British man named Ayrton Redfearn from south Devon tragically lost his life while supporting Ukraine forces in the Donetsk region on May 9. His mother, known as Natasha, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of her son, describing him as beautiful, strong, and incredibly brave.
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed the incident, stating they are assisting the family of the deceased British national and maintaining communication with Ukrainian authorities. Natasha revealed her ongoing fear of receiving bad news, which became a reality on May 11, shattering her world and that of Ayrton’s 10-year-old brother.
She acknowledged the outpouring of tributes and support received from both acquaintances and strangers, expressing gratitude for the kindness shown during this difficult time. Ayrton, who was scheduled to receive a bravery award posthumously, was a former student at Churston Ferrers Grammar School and a member of the Torquay Air Cadets from a young age.
