A tragic incident at a well-known bonfire in Belfast has resulted in the death of a man identified locally as Warren, also known as AKA Lyttle. Warren fell from the Braniel’s Eleventh Night bonfire on Friday night, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent passing on Saturday due to his injuries.
Authorities from the Police Service of Northern Ireland have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) has also been notified about the incident.
In response to the tragedy, the Braniel Bonfire Committee, Braniel Loyal Flute Band, and Braniel Community Group expressed their profound sorrow over the loss of Warren. Despite the heartbreaking event, they have decided to proceed with the planned bonfire on the request of Warren’s family.
The bonfire will be ignited at 9pm on the 11th of July, with a minute of silence dedicated to Warren’s memory before the event. Attendees are urged to show respect and compassion towards Warren’s family and friends throughout the evening, honoring his memory in a dignified manner.
Dundela Social Club’s spokesperson, as reported by BelfastLive, described Warren as a familiar and well-loved figure who will be deeply missed by many. The club extended their condolences to Warren’s family and friends, emphasizing his significant presence and the impact of his passing within the community.
