Armed police officers responded to a situation in a Merseyside town where a man was observed behaving erratically and appeared to be injured. Emergency services were dispatched to Marmion Avenue in Bootle on Wednesday around 4:45 pm after receiving a report expressing concern for the man’s safety. The man was found seated on what seemed to be a shed roof with visible blood on him, as witnessed by a reporter from Liverpool Echo present at the scene. By approximately 8 pm, the man safely descended and received assistance from emergency personnel.
According to a Merseyside Police spokesperson, reports indicated that a male was acting erratically and was injured on Marmion Avenue. A cordon was established as officers attempted to communicate with the individual, and cautionary advice was issued for motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area during the ongoing situation.
Witnesses reported a significant presence of emergency vehicles, including multiple fire engines, three police vans, several police cars, ambulance crews, and incident response units at the scene. Residents recounted encounters with over a dozen armed police officers instructing them to remain indoors for safety. Concerns were raised about the man on the roof, with one neighbor mentioning his prolonged presence, bloodstains, and requests for water being withheld until he descended.
