An unexpected error caused by artificial intelligence was observed during the live broadcast of Russia’s annual Victory Day military parade.

During the event, elite pilots from the Russian Air Force executed their customary flypast, but the fighter jets were seen carrying flags of European NATO member nations such as the UK, France, Germany, and others.

This incident occurred as Russian President Vladimir Putin commended Russian troops for their efforts in Ukraine, mentioning the challenges posed by the NATO alliance. The parade, marking the 81st anniversary of the Soviet victory in World War Two, featured the Russian Knights and Swifts aerobatic teams in a highly anticipated display on Moscow’s Red Square.

The aircraft, including MiG-29s, Su-30SMs, and Su-25s, flew over the square in a distinctive Cuban Diamond formation, emitting smoke in the colors of the Russian flag. The event was captured using a mix of live cameras and AI-generated footage to provide viewers with a detailed view of the jets.

Putin, a long-standing figure in Russian politics, traditionally uses Victory Day to showcase the country’s military prowess and garner support for ongoing conflicts, including the situation in Ukraine.

Security was intensified in Moscow for the parade, with the presence of Putin and other foreign dignitaries. Notably, this year’s parade differed significantly from previous years as heavy weaponry like tanks and missiles were absent, attributed to the current operational environment and concerns about potential Ukrainian threats.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously mentioned concerns about potential drone activity during the celebrations, mocking the situation by issuing a decree humorously granting permission for Russia’s Victory Day festivities and declaring Red Square off-limits to Ukrainian actions.

A statement from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov dismissed Zelensky’s decree as a light-hearted gesture, asserting Russia’s pride in celebrating Victory Day without external approval. Peskov later confirmed that no security threats were detected during the parade, emphasizing that the event proceeded smoothly without any incidents.
